* develop and lead the execution of comprehensive ehs strategies aligned with appleton group's business objectives and regulatory requirements (osha, epa, etc.).
* drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate safety culture and performance across all sites, ensuring alignment with emerson's corporate standards.
* monitor, analyze, and report safety kpis, trends, and performance metrics to executive leadership, providing actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
* ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, proactively addressing risks and regulatory changes.
* oversee environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste management, air and water quality monitoring, and sustainability initiatives.
* lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and property damage; identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, leading responses to audits, inspections, and compliance inquiries.
* support capital projects by integrating safety planning and risk mitigation strategies throughout project lifecycles.
* champion employee safety training programs and behavioral safety initiatives, fostering engagement and accountability.
* coordinate and facilitate all required safety and health training, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all locations.
* build strong partnerships with operations leaders and employees to promote a culture of safety, ownership, and discipline.
required education, experience & skills:
* bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial engineering, or related field.
* minimum 5 years of progressive ehs leadership experience in a manufacturing environment at a senior level.
* strong knowledge of osha, epa, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
* proven ability to lead change, influence culture, and drive ehs performance.
* excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
* planning and prioritization - manage multiple projects and activities.
* willingness and ability to travel, up to 50% each year
