about the role
reporting to the chief commercial officer, the head of business development will be responsible for originating, developing, and closing high-impact deals across latam regions.
this role will lead algorand's business development efforts in-market, both directly and through channel partners.
each role is responsible for the entire business development lifecycle and for winning in their region delivering meaningful growth against our onchain kpi targets within defined market segments.
the focus will be on securing long-term strategic integrations for adoption of onchain assets, not pay-to-play partnerships.
priority will be given to partners with existing customer demand, strong distribution, and a credible path to driving growing onchain activity.
the ideal candidate brings a strong regional network, commercial judgement, and the ability to build trust with senior decision-makers across fintech, banking, payments, and digital asset ecosystems.
this person will be responsible for helping establish algorand's presence in the region, acting as a visible market leader and trusted face of the foundation.
core responsibilities
client origination and execution
- lead business development efforts both directly and through channel partners, and regional ecosystem relationships.
- identify, develop, and close strategic client integrations with remittance businesses, neobanks, superapps, financial institutions, and other platforms with a captive customer base.
- build and manage a high-quality pipeline of opportunities, from first engagement through commercial close, prioritising partners with clear potential to drive transaction flows, wallet activity, onchain asset usage, and broader onchain kpi growth within 18 months.
regional market development
- build algorand's visibility in the region and serve as a credible external representative of the foundation at regional events, client meetings, and industry forums.
- develop a strong local network across founders, executives, regulators, ecosystem partners, and market operators.
- travel regularly across the region to meet prospective clients, deepen relationships, and build market intelligence.
cross-functional coordination
- help structure partner-led go-to-market approaches that connect payments, tokenised financial products, and low-risk defi opportunities where relevant, together with integrations
- collaborate internally with the integrations, product, defi, and legal teams to shape client solutions.
following contract signing, ensure a seamless handover of the relationship's poc to the integrations team.
key requirements
- 10+ years of experience in business development, payments, fintech, or digital assets, in a client-facing and deal-oriented role.
- strong network in the assigned region across treasury management, fintechs, neobanks, superapps, institutions, remittance providers, or related financial platforms.
- proven track record of sourcing and closing commercial partnerships that drive measurable business growth.
- strong understanding of emerging market financial services, treasury management, payments, and distribution dynamics.
- working knowledge of blockchain, stablecoins, and onchain financial products.
- comfortable operating independently in-market while coordinating effectively with global teams.
- willingness and ability to travel frequently across the region.
good to have
- experience working with channel partners or distributor-led growth models.
- background in cross-border payments, remittances, wallets, or embedded finance.
- familiarity with compliant digital asset products, stablecoin infrastructure, or tokenised financial products.
- experience building businesses or partnerships in high-growth emerging markets.
