the following responsibilities and qualifications describe the plant director - production role at vertiv.
Responsibilities
determines and executes administrative policies through subordinate managers and oversees the optimal operation of departments such as production, quality, finance, materials, engineering, maintenance, human resources, health & safety, etc.
Responsible for selecting, training, motivating, and developing staff, acting as a facilitator, and promoting inter-departmental harmony.
Represents the organization in industrial, commercial or service trade associations to develop acceptance of the company and to detect trends that can affect the organization.
Has the organization’s general power of attorney.
Oversee operations to ensure safety and develop plans that help operations run smoothly.
Qualifications
bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience in manufacturing operations management, preferably in multiple managerial roles.
Strong knowledge of production processes, quality management systems, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., lean, six sigma).
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, p&l management, and cost control.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices in industrial environments.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written in english and spanish.
Problem-solving mindset and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant certifications (e.g., cpim, cmq/oe) are a plus.
Master's degree or mba related to operations (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 12 years of experience in plant management within multinational or transnational companies, with preference for hvac assembly, thermal, automotive manufacturing or related industries.
Physical & environmental demands
the role oversees multiple manufacturing facilities, requiring regular site visits and interaction with production teams, corporate representatives, and customers.
Required to wear personal protective equipment (ppe) and adhere to safety protocols.
Extensive floor presence to ensure factory needs are met and led by the plant director.
Occasional standing or walking during meetings, presentations, or site visits.
Work is primarily conducted in an office environment with controlled temperature and lighting.
Time travel required
15%
occasional travel to different vertiv manufacturing locations, client sites or conferences may be necessary.
