Occupational health physician
job purpose:
to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of employees in an industrial or manufacturing environment by providing medical care, conducting health assessments, and implementing occupational health programs.
key responsibilities:
- conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical exams.
- evaluate employees for fitness for duty, especially in high-risk roles (e.g., forklift operators, welders).
- develop and implement workplace health campaigns.
monitor and reduce absenteeism due to illness.
- support compliance with health standards.
- provide first aid and emergency care on-site.
- treat occupational illnesses and injuries.
- refer employees to external medical services when needed.
-ensure adherence to imss and secretaría de salud (ssa) regulations.
- maintain accurate medical records and reports.
- work closely with hr, safety, and operations teams.
- maintain good relationships with government health agencies.
- educate employees on wellness, ergonomics, and disease prevention.
-lead initiatives to improve workplace ergonomics and mental health.
qualifications:
- medical degree with a valid professional license and federal cédula.
- specialization or diploma in occupational health or related field (preferred).
-intermediate english proficiency (often required in multinational companies).
-familiarity with medical equipment (e.g., audiometers, spirometers).
-strong communication and organizational skills.
