as a member of the global payments services (gps) team, this position is key for american express in the end to end payment process for canada, by keeping a close relationship with core internal teams such customer service, credit, marketing, treasury, risk, frauds, compliance and accounting, ensuring that the payments are correctly and timely processed while maintaining strong controls that allow to have zero impacts to clients and the company; complying with policies and regulations.
Main responsibilities:
- ensure payment files for consumer and corporate coming from bank partners are received accurately and timely
- ensure that rejected payments are debited on a timely basis
- ensure corporate centralized payments are posted within sla’s
- keeps gps leadership informed on potential impacts and keeping an effective communication across all areas
- ensure funds are settled on time in our bank accounts
- develops and maintains strong relations with stakeholders/colleagues across geographies and organizational levels
*qualifications*
- must be bilingual (english and spanish)
- strong analytical capabilities with an excellent understanding of company financials, cost accounting, process unit costs
- excellent communication skills in order to present key financial information effectively at all levels of both american express and the partners
