The Head of Investment Counsellor
Role purpose:
The Head of Investment Counsellor is an experienced investment advisor focused on manage IC´s and supporting private bankers in all investment themes with clients. He is an expert in the variety of products the bank offers its clients, and must know the key differences with products offered by the competition so he can highlight to the client the benefits of our product offering. The Head of IC´s can become the direct contact with the client in any investment theme. He is focused on advising HNWI and UHNWI; which normally diversify investments with more institutions.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients so they can achieve their financial goals through the best investment advice
- Increase profitability for the bank through diversified products to help maximize portfolio returns for clients
- Attracting new money from existing clients, as well as supporting private bankers to acquire new ones
Leadership & Teamwork
- As a senior member of the team, provide education of sophisticated products to investment counsellors
- Help the team grow as a whole; provide market insights including new product offering in the financial industry
- Provide bankers with a deep understanding of current economic situations so they can improve their knowledge
Functional Knowledge
- Specialized in sophisticated HSBC´s investment products as well as the whole market offering
- Being well informed every day to have a deep understanding of the implications of world events to investments
- Manage people, internal and external clients
Others
- Requires communication skills both in dealing with internal and external clients
- Must have curiosity at all times to constantly enhance product offering and help improve service
Requirements
Experience and knowledge
- Several years of experience in the financial industry covering a wide range of products such as equities, fixed income, mutual funds, securities-backed loans, discretionary mandates and bespoke portfolios and people management.
- Deep economic and market knowledge and its implications for portfolios.
- Experience dealing with HNWI and UHNWI.
- Knowledge of local regulations and investment regime.
- Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a rapidly changing discipline Manage relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Relevant knowledge of trading strategies and must have a specialization as an investment strategy advisor.
- The role requires a comprehensive understanding of how all value units/products/regions/legal entities are collectively integrated, along with comprehensive industry knowledge to contribute to HSBC's business objectives.
- Management and interaction with high performance teams with strong communication skills and working with internal leaders.
- Act as a speaker and organizing events for clients through technology and internet connectivity.
- Management responsibilities through subordinate managers who perform various activities (across disciplines, eg Finance, Technology, Banking)
- Improve the relationship between the bank and the client through a deep understanding of the client's financial situation, needs and objectives.
- Management and training of junior investment managers
- Partner with private bankers to attract new money from existing clients through a close relationship with them, as well as attract new clients It covers a wide range of diverse activities that require judgment and complex solutions based on conceptual thinking and strategic vision and analysis.
