engineering leadershiplead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical and electrical (controls) engineersestablish engineering standards, design best practices and documentation protocolsdrive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and methodologiesconduct performance evaluations, resource planning, and succession developmentmaintain an appropriately staffed engineering team commensurate with workloads and goals for future growth2.
project execution & deliveryoversee full lifecycle of custom machine design: concept, design, build, validation, and commissioningensure projects meet reasonable scope, schedule, budget, and performance requirementscollaborate with project management to allocate resources and manage engineering workloadidentify and mitigate technical risks early in the design phase3.
technical oversightreview and approve mechanical designs (tooling, structures, motion systems) and electrical designs (schematics, controls architecture, safety systems)ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ansi, iso, nfpa 79, ul, ce as applicable)drive design for manufacturability (dfm), assembly (dfa), and serviceabilitysupport troubleshooting of complex technical issues during build and commissioning4.
cross-functional collaborationpartner with sales/applications engineering to develop technical concepts and cost estimateswork closely with manufacturing, assembly, and supply chain to ensure efficient buildscommunicate with customers during design reviews, fat (factory acceptance testing), and issue resolutioncoordinate with field service team for installation and post-launch support5.
innovation & continuous improvementidentify re-occurring design requests that can be made modular or standardized for repeat use to reduce engineering cost for future projectsstay abreast of new technologies that can help with the design and execution of custom machineslead lessons-learned reviews and integrate feedback into future designsqualificationseducationbachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related fieldmaster's degree preferred (not required)fluent in englishexperience8–12+ years in machine design or industrial automation3–5+ years in engineering leadership or supervisory roleexperience in automotive and/or whitegoods manufacturing environments strongly preferredproven track record delivering custom automated systemstechnical competenciesmechanical systems: tooling, pneumatics, servo motion, structural designelectrical/controls: plcs (e.g., siemens, rockwell), hmis, safety circuits, industrial networks, reading schematicsfamiliarity with cad platforms (e.g., creo, solidworks) and electrical design tools (e.g., eplan, autocad electrical)understanding of robotics integration and vision systemsknowledge of press equipment and press processes (stamping, forming, piercing, clinching)knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, assembly, etc.)key performance indicators (kpis)on-time engineering deliverablesengineering budget adherencereduction in design errors and reworkteam utilization and productivityemployee engagement and retentionwork environmentcombination of office (design/reviews) and shop floor (build/debug)occasional travel for customer visits, fats, and site commissioningpreferred but not required experiencesome machining backgroundsapemployment: full time.schedule: 8:00 am–5:00 pm, monday to friday.location: arteaga, coahuila, mexico.
