Johnson controls, a global leader in building technology and sustainability, seeks a dedicated product owner to join and lead scrum teams contributing to the navigator platform.
what you will do
the product owner will serve as the primary interface between product management, user experience, and development teams to ensure solutions meet business and customer needs and align with overall program release plans.
* analyze business needs, define customer/user/business requirements, and translate product features into user stories, use cases, and software requirements.
* maintain and prioritize the scrum team(s) product backlog and sprint‑by‑sprint forecast.
* coordinate and contribute to the overall program release plan, including product quality, testing, documentation, support, sales and marketing preparation, operations and deployment needs.
* guide work iteration tempo by balancing forecast, team velocity, and release schedule.
* prioritize the backlog, resolve conflicts, manage risks, and negotiate non‑functional requirements and technical debt with product management.
* manage requirement dependencies between products/features and serve as a focal point within the team.
* motivate team members, set compelling goals, and guide the scrum team(s) in delivering maximum value.
* defend the scrum team(s) and help remove impediments in close partnership with the delivery lead/scrum master.
* act as master of ceremonies for the sprint review and ensure stakeholder engagement.
* balance multiple projects and timelines, mentor/coach other product owners and business analysts.
* maintain long‑term relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
how you will do it
use agile frameworks and scrum ceremonies to create and negotiate steps toward a successful release, manage priorities, resolve conflicts, negotiate non‑functional requirements, mitigate risks, and motivate the team.
what we look for
* bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, it, or a related technical field.
* 8+ years in a technology‑related field with exposure to product development and/or product management.
* strong written and verbal communication, interviewing, questioning, and facilitation skills.
* excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact with varied audiences at all levels of an organization.
* ability to quickly acquire a thorough understanding of the products, business, customers, and users.
* experience developing collateral and artifacts for product development teams, product management, and architecture.
* demonstrated success at leading cross‑functional global product development teams to meet business needs.
* experience in an agile/iterative environment, including scrum and all its ceremonies.
* flexibility to work early hours to meet with international teams.
* experience as a business analyst, development/test lead, project management, or product management preferred.
* product owner role experience or equivalent agile experience preferred.
* experience with bas, hvac, fire detection, access control, or related systems, and salesforce international sales or online sales experience.
