Description ths job runs the op - (operation plan) and coordinates compliance with all terminals along the network of kcsm. This job also monitors compliance with the release of various regulations and operating instructions. Accountabilities complies with the scheme set out in force for the movement of trains, balancing the necessary resources (locomotives and crews) for the movement of trains at the scheduled time. Monitors mcs and tmds systems, compliance instructions and plans of operation, adheres to the rules, takes decisions based on experience, real and timely information. Supervises the execution of agreements in the daily conferences to ensure the effective use of resources primarily locomotives and train staff. Understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders. Identifies when a rule / regulation / policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations, using current methodology, and has the individual produce better results. Demonstrates cpkc's commitment to living a speak up culture - and cl (consequence leadership) by using communication and interpersonal skills to enhance inclusion, civility, respect, innovation, safety, customer focus, teamwork within kcs, while encouraging and enabling others to do the same. Defines and communicates clearly the teams roles and responsibilities; holds people accountable for accomplishing objectives; recognizes and rewards people who achieve results and deliver on performance expectations; provides pinpointed (specific & measurable) feedback on performance. Develops and retains a strong team of high performers; creates a challenging and rewarding work environment; organizes a diverse group of people into a cohesive team to leverage their energy, knowledge and skills; creates grassroots / localized events to train & develop others - including location-specific safety training, localized speak up events, regular recognition or team-building activities. Exemplifies kcs vision, values, and culture interactions with coworkers, business partners, customers and stakeholders. Interruptions / derailments on the main track ensures that critical information is documented as an incident and communicated to responsible parties who must take specific actions as soon as possible. They prepare an analysis of the probable interruption time to create an emergency plan. They evaluate alternative routes for train traffic. Support is requested from connecting railways to make use of rights of way or operating agreements if necessary. Send a request to use the operational right of way and consist of trains that were scheduled to do so, to the connecting railway. Prepares a report of the trains that were diverted using the operational right of way and sends it to the interested parties. Safety audits prepares safety audits (ots) for train dispatchers and records the information in the appropriate systems. Emergency notifications on main road notify the train dispatcher so that he can communicate by radio with the personnel of affected trains and escalate cases in which trains exceed time blocking main road. Required bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study. Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred knowledge of all kcsm line system. Familiarized with the tsp compliance. Minimum 3 years as a train dispatcher. Previous kansas city southern experience. Working conditions work on different shifts. Availability to change shifts and days of work. Availability to work extra time or during days of rest or holidays. Availability to rotate in different similar position. Very good acceptance to changes. Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day / 7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays. On-call responsibilities are an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support operations of critically important systems and / or processes 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. On-call assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays. This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time. We offer complete health and welfare benefits package.
