role purpose
ensure entity compliance with local regulations, gaap accounting principles, and corning policies and procedures. Manage the plant closing process and ensure reporting is timely and accurate. Prepare reconciliations and analyze expenses for financial accuracy. Serve as key resource for plant personnel on operating expenses, supply chain transactions, and asset capitalization. Ensure adherence to internal controls and sox documentation.
key responsibilities
* assist the controller by leading the monthly financial closing, reporting and forecasting processes; coordinate journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
* support compliance with internal and external controls, sarbanes‑oxley requirements, gaap accounting principles, and corning policies.
* facilitate appropriation requests, monitor capital spend, process asset capitalizations, and maintain fixed asset ledger accuracy.
* maintain and update plant standard costs, working with engineering and operations to ensure accurate usage rates and labor hours.
* assist plant controller with annual budget preparation.
* prepare monthly account reconciliations.
* ensure inventory compliance with valuation, slow and obsolescence reserves, write‑offs, etc.
* monitor spending and work with department managers to control costs; research and explain expense variances.
* support plant leadership and business partners to drive process improvements.
* support financial analysis related to capital projects, cost reductions, and other initiatives.
* provide ad‑hoc financial analysis for plant controller and plant leadership.
education & experience
* bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
* +3‑5 years of relevant experience; manufacturing and/or cost accounting experience preferred.
* proven knowledge of us gaap.
* temporary role – 6‑month contract.
travel requirements
* occasional travel as needed for meetings and training; less than 10%.
* work schedule: monday–friday, region/location‑specific hours, overtime as required.
