the integration & solutions operational excellence (oe) engineer plays a critical role within the operational excellence & assurance (oe&a) framework, leading the deployment of oe strategy, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives across i&s projects.
this role focuses on strengthening execution excellence, reliability, and "first-time-right" performance by identifying systemic gaps, standardizing processes, and embedding continuous improvement practices.
the oe engineer partners with multiple stakeholders to drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost while ensuring alignment with baker hughes governance standards and operational priorities.
responsibilities
driving deployment of operational excellence strategy across i&s projects, translating business goals into actionable initiatives and kpis
promoting a strong hse culture by ensuring compliance with baker hughes non-negotiables and embedding safety practices across all operations
leading performance management systems, including kpi tracking, reporting, visual management, and governance routines
facilitating operational excellence reviews and cross-functional governance forums such as reliability councils
supporting reliability improvement through root cause analysis (rca), field incident management process (fimp), and corrective actions to reduce non-productive time (npt)
collaborating with product lines, suppliers, and quality teams to enhance project execution, supplier performance, and customer outcomes
driving digital enablement through tools such as power bi, maps, and other systems to improve data visibility and predictive insights
leading continuous improvement initiatives using structured methodologies (e.g., lean, dmaic) to deliver measurable business impact
embedding risk management, readiness, and management of change (moc) practices into project executionsupporting audit readiness and integrating assurance outcomes through a three lines of defense approach
coaching teams and leaders on operational excellence principles, problem-solving techniques, and performance improvement frameworks
promoting standardization, simplification, and scalability of best practices across projects
qualifications
hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline (petroleum engineering preferred)
have 5+ years of experience in oil and gas, ideally in drilling, completions, or integrated project environments
demonstrate strong knowledge of well construction/completion operations and field service delivery
possess experience in operational excellence, continuous improvement, or reliability engineering practices
show strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a global matrix organization
be proficient in digital and reporting tools such as power bi and ms office
demonstrate strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management capabilities
desired characteristics
experience with lean six sigma, dmaic, or similar continuous improvement frameworks
strong understanding of performance management systems and strategy deployment
knowledge of reliability engineering, rca methodologies, and risk management
familiarity with digital systems such as maps, fracas, bhos, or similar
strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across functions and cultures
