Introduction
the aws eks platform engineer is responsible for implementing, operating, and optimizing kubernetes-based platform capabilities on aws. This role supports api gateway migration to eks, manages deployments and upgrades, ensures platform reliability, and contributes to operational excellence across logging, monitoring, automation, and on‐call readiness. The engineer collaborates with architects, platform leads, and devops teams to maintain a secure, scalable, and high‐performing cloud-native runtime.
your role and responsibilities
* implement, configure, and maintain aws eks clusters, container runtimes, and supporting aws services (iam, vpc, load balancing, networking).
* support api gateway → eks migration by deploying containerized workloads and ensuring connectivity, routing, and integration patterns.
* perform deployments, upgrades, scaling operations, cluster configuration changes, and day‐2 operational tasks.
* monitor platform health, performance, and resource utilization using observability tools (cloudwatch, prometheus, grafana, elk, etc.).
* participate in on‐call rotations, incident response, operational readiness, and service performance management.
* contribute to automation pipelines (github actions / ci/cd), iac tooling, and continuous improvement of platform reliability.
* collaborate with architects and engineering teams to enforce platform standards, security controls, and best practices.
preferred education
bachelor's degree
required technical and professional expertise
* cloud engineering experience, preferably in platform or sre roles.
* hands‐on experience with aws eks, kubernetes, and docker, including cluster configuration and workload deployments.
* strong understanding of iam, vpc networking, load balancers, container networking, and aws security best practices.
* experience with monitoring/observability tools (cloudwatch, prometheus, grafana, elk, etc.).
* scripting and automation experience (python/go), and github-based ci/cd workflows.
preferred technical and professional experience
* familiarity with service mesh technologies (istio/linkerd), ingress controllers, and api routing models.
* experience enabling platform observability, metrics pipelines, and automated alerting.
* exposure to api governance or api lifecycle management tools.
* experience implementing iac using terraform or cloudformation.
* understanding of multi‐account aws architecture, compliance, and security hardening practices.
