summary: hershey’s payroll specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll and time processing of manufacturing sites throughout the united states. The payroll specialist oversees the automated payroll software sap, and partners with hr and is teams to troubleshoot and resolve system data integrity errors. Additional partnerships include legal, employee relations, finance, and operations, working collectively to ensure all data is accurately being passed and processed.
major duties/responsibilities:
* process us bi-weekly payroll in sap accurately and timely.
* ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
* perform data entry for new hires, terminations, and employee changes.
* research variances regarding past pay cycles, updating lien, garnishment documentation, legal inquiries, and audit questions or concerns.
* ensure all post-processing interface jobs are successfully processed – posting to sap’s finance module (gl posting, third-party payment posting / garnishments), deposit file, positive pay file, retirement, and other data interfaces.
* customer service focused with attention to employee support and personal data confidentiality.
* process prior quarter wage and tax adjustments.
* handle and implement all company payroll policies and procedures to ensure requirements are followed every payroll.
* assist in year-end processing to ensure accuracy of w-2's.
* maintain payroll files and records.
* work on special payroll projects as needed.
* run adhoc reports upon request.
* provide support and coverage for other team members.
minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
* high level of attention to detail.
* commitment to excellence and flexibility during peak periods.
* knowledge of sap, federal, state, and local taxation.
* technology and systems savvy.
* excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* ability to meet deadlines and handle highly confidential matters.
* ability to collaborate effectively with peers and cross-functional teams.
minimum education and experience requirements:
* minimum of five years experience with multi-state payroll processing, preferably using sap.
* bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, hr, business, or related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications).
