About the role
responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities, ensuring compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include generalist or multidisciplinary tasks within the environmental health and safety function.
reporting and travel
this position reports directly to miguel valdes, manager ehs. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, estimated at approximately 5% of the time.
the ehs tasks include:
* ensure compliance with ehs regulatory schedules in the plant.
* provide training and technical advice on safety and environmental protection.
* supervise the plant's commissions and brigades.
* maintain operational iso 14001 and 45001 systems in the plant.
* monitor and investigate accidents, incidents, environmental impacts, and non-conformities.
* ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
* conduct weekly floor tours and audits.
* follow up on internal health and safety systems, policies, procedures, standards, and legal compliance.
* manage protocols with contractors and suppliers.
* monitor and control transport booths.
* develop procedures.
ideal candidate qualifications
* at least 8 years of experience in health, safety, and environment.
* education/training in health, safety, and environment.
* knowledge of industrial safety, risk prevention, and in-plant emergencies.
* familiarity with ergonomics and risk analysis.
* ability to learn quickly, understand business systems, and adapt to urgent requirements.
* knowledge of sap.
* bilingual in spanish and english.
* strong communication, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills.
* ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
* detail-oriented and highly organized.
* knowledge of mexican regulatory standards (stps, semarnat, ssa, etc.).
* experience with iso 14001 and iso 45001 systems.
