Shape the future of large‑scale mining infrastructure projects. We're looking for a senior project planner who can bring structure, clarity and foresight to complex engineering and construction programs—helping our teams deliver meaningful impact for the resources sector.
purpose of the role
you'll lead the development, integration and control of engineering and construction schedules for major mining projects. Working closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction management and cost control, you'll ensure project plans remain realistic, predictable and aligned to scope, cost and execution strategies. As a senior advisor, you'll guide planners, challenge assumptions, and inform decisions across project performance.
core responsibilities
develop, maintain and integrate multi‑discipline engineering and construction schedules using primavera p6 (level 1–4).
lead schedule planning for concept, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and ramp‑up.
prepare and manage the project master schedule, logic ties, critical path, float paths and scenario modeling.
validate engineering inputs (deliverables lists, man‑hour curves, model review cycles) to ensure realistic sequencing and resource planning.
integrate vendor and procurement timelines: rfqs, bid evaluation, purchase orders, expediting, logistics and fabrication milestones.
oversee construction scheduling: work packages, productivity assumptions, constraints, pre‑construction readiness and contractor baseline reviews.
coordinate with mining disciplines (geotechnical, mine planning, process plants, tailings, npi) to ensure complete integration and field alignment.
conduct schedule risk analysis (quantitative and qualitative), report risk drivers and propose mitigation strategies.
generate and present schedule reports: progress curves, forecasting, variance analysis, kpis, schedule health checks and executive dashboards.
lead cross‑functional planning sessions and readiness workshops (3‑month look‑ahead, constraint removal, path‑of‑construction reviews).
support change control processes: evaluate impacts, maintain as‑built records, and provide forensic schedule analysis when needed.
guide junior planners, assign tasks, review deliverables and promote planning best practices across the project.
collaborate closely with project controls to ensure alignment between schedule, cost, risk and earned value.
skills and experience
must: proven experience in mining infrastructure planning (plants, tailings, npi, water systems, crushing & conveying, utilities, camps, access roads).
7+ years in project planning/scheduling within project controls, preferably epcm/epc environments.
strong command of primavera p6, schedule coding structures (wbs/cbs), progress measurement and critical‑path methodology.
experience coordinating schedules with engineering, procurement, construction contractors and commissioning teams.
ability to prepare and communicate complex schedule analysis, recovery plans and decision‑support data.
advanced understanding of project systems, processes and tools; ability to troubleshoot and support others.
strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including presentations to management.
ability to lead functional planning teams and assign/review tasks for junior schedulers.
bachelor's degree in engineering, project controls or related field. Equivalent experience may be accepted.
