The role of an environmental health and safety specialist involves playing a crucial part in ensuring that the organization complies with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations. This position requires a deep understanding of these standards as well as excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
key responsibilities:
* conduct regular audits to verify compliance with ehs standards
* follow up on audit findings and implement corrective actions to prevent incidents
* issue work permits and oversee the use of machinery/equipment
* inspect emergency devices and safety equipment to ensure they are functioning properly
* interpret and adhere to relevant laws and regulations
* collaborate with team members to achieve departmental objectives
* participate in pec subcommittee meetings to discuss and resolve ehs-related issues
* develop initiatives to prevent accidents and improve workplace safety
* participate in evacuation drills and contribute to root cause analysis of incidents
* lead the safety committee (csh) and develop strategies to promote a safe working environment
* audit and maintain current documentation for pec model machines
* support the implementation of the organizational strategic plan
* contribute to the development of lpa audits and procedures
requirements:
* engineering or bachelor's degree in a relevant field
* 1-3 years of experience in ehs
* knowledge of mexican safety, health, and environmental regulations
* proficiency in 5s principles and basic office software
* medium-level english language skills
