the hr employee relations & ethics compliance manager is a key leadership role reporting directly to the people matters director. You will serve as the essential liaison between the people matters director and the employee relations team, translating ford’s global people strategy into operational excellence.
In this role, you are the guardian of ford’s “speak‑up” culture. You will ensure that every employee feels safe, heard, and respected by overseeing the resolution of conflicts and disciplinary matters with unwavering fairness. Your primary focus will be the comprehensive follow‑up and resolution of cases involving harassment, conflict of interest, discrimination, and code of conduct violations. By fostering a transparent and ethical environment, you help build a ford where everyone belongs and can do their best work.
Responsibilities
strategic liaison & team leadership: act as the primary bridge between the people matters director and the employee relations team. You will communicate strategic priorities, provide high‑level updates on critical cases, and ensure the team is “ready” to execute on ford’s culture and compliance goals.
'speak up' advocacy & case oversight: manage the distribution and assignment of all casework. Serve as the lead for case escalation and ensure rigorous follow‑up on investigations related to harassment, conflict of interest, discrimination, and code of conduct. You ensure that when employees 'speak up,' ford acts with speed and integrity.
Ethical culture & issue resolution: manage the resolution of employee, union, and work council relations issues. Ensure all outcomes align with ford’s code of conduct and global ethical standards. Support the people matters director in collective bargaining and union negotiations to maintain a positive, forward‑moving work environment.
Compliance quality & insight: develop and monitor case quality to ensure a consistent and fair experience. Synthesize data into actionable insights for the people matters director, identifying trends in workplace conduct that allow us to proactively address issues before they arise.
Performance & integrity alignment: support the design of performance management systems that reward not just what is achieved, but how it is achieved. Ensure that our performance culture remains rooted in our values and the ready, set, ford spirit.
Investigations & legal partnership: directly resolve and conduct formal follow‑ups on discrimination, harassment, and conflict of interest disclosures. Partner with legal counsel on discovery and litigation preparation, ensuring the people matters director is fully informed of any risks to the organization.
Policy governance & communication: interpret and administer company policies, ensuring that standards regarding harassment and workplace conduct are modern, compliant, and effectively communicated. You ensure that our policies reflect a culture of belonging and high morale.
Strategic planning: collaborate with the people matters director to develop long‑term plans for employee relations that align with ford’s business strategy and financial objectives, ensuring we utilize our human resources optimally to drive innovation.
Data integrity: oversee the maintenance of confidential employee records. Use analytics to monitor the “pulse” of the organization, providing the people matters director with the data needed to foster a healthier, more ethical workplace.
Talent management: lead the er team by example. Responsible for staffing, performance management, and team development, ensuring the team itself is a model of the high ethical standards and professional conduct we expect across ford.

Qualifications
education:
bachelor’s degree or master’s degree (preferred) in human resources, organizational development, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience.
Experience:
minimum 10 years of work experience hr manager, preferably in employee relations or a ethics and compliance.
Licenses and certifications:
certified human resource professional (chrp) (preferred)
certified labor relations professional (clrp) (preferred)
work requirements:
involves occasional (defined as one‑third or less of the time) lifting of no more than 10 pounds at a time. Work is performed primarily in a seated position and entails no significant stooping, standing, climbing, walking, etc. Many sedentary jobs require good use of the hands and fingers for repetitive hand‑finger actions. Working conditions occur within low to moderate noise levels related to the use of standard office or classroom equipment.
