we are seeking a credit underwriter to join the clm underwriting team in mexico city. This role supports the end‑to‑end credit lifecycle, including underwriting, structuring, documentation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring, while partnering closely with senior credit officers and regional stakeholders.

role overview
the credit underwriter is responsible for underwriting and monitoring credit risk across a diversified portfolio of commercial banking clients. The role plays a key part in supporting credit approval decisions, ensuring sound risk judgment, and maintaining portfolio discipline in line with global standards and local regulatory requirements.
key responsibilities
credit underwriting & analysis
1. execute end‑to‑end credit underwriting, from initial transaction discussions through approval
2. prepare, review, and manage credit approval memoranda (cams), ensuring quality, completeness, and policy compliance
3. perform financial statement analysis, cash‑flow projections, stress testing, risk ratings, and industry assessments
4. produce and maintain annual and quarterly credit reviews for assigned portfolio
portfolio & transaction support
5. support new transactions, renewals, amendments, and ad‑hoc credit requests
6. participate in portfolio reviews, sector deep‑dives, and stress‑testing exercises
7. monitor covenant compliance, exposure, and early warning indicators
risk governance & stakeholder interaction
8. partner effectively with relationship managers, independent risk, compliance, and internal audit teams
9. apply global credit risk standards while incorporating local market and regulatory considerations
10. contribute to timely escalation and resolution of emerging credit issues
team & strategic contribution
11. support clm underwriting initiatives, process improvements, and best‑practice adoption
12. contribute to a strong risk culture through disciplined analysis and sound judgment
13. provide guidance and technical support to junior analysts as needed
required experience & qualifications
14. 5–8 years of relevant experience in credit underwriting, credit risk, corporate/commercial banking, or related roles
15. advanced english proficiency (written and verbal), given interaction with regional and global teams
16. strong foundation in financial analysis and credit assessment methodologies
17. ability to evaluate financial statements, industries, and transaction structures
18. bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
