About the role
the finance cost manager – dc commercial products plays a critical leadership role in driving cost excellence across new product introduction (npi) programs. In this highly influential position, you will partner with engineering, supply chain, operations, and program management teams to shape product cost structure and enable strategic financial decisions. Your work directly impacts product competitiveness, profitability, and long‑term business success by ensuring cost targets are met from concept through launch.
Key responsibilities
serve as the primary finance partner for npi programs, owning product cost models, cost targets, and financial risk assessments.
Lead cost reviews throughout the product lifecycle and ensure alignment with engineering, supply chain, and operations.
Evaluate design alternatives, manufacturing strategies, and sourcing decisions to optimize cost, quality, and schedule.
Manage cross‑functional cost initiatives and coordinate with program managers to integrate financial insights into project schedules and executive reviews.
Identify risks and opportunities early, propose mitigation strategies, and influence program direction.
Develop and maintain detailed cost models, including bom analysis, labor and overhead modeling, and scenario planning.
Perform variance analysis across material, labor, and manufacturing costs, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
Monitor cost performance against targets and forecast impacts to product margins and financial plans.
Partner with engineering, supply chain, and operations to evaluate design‑for‑cost opportunities and validate sourcing and manufacturing strategies.
Lead fp&a activities including forecasts, budgets, and performance reviews, while managing investment portfolios for new product development.
Prepare senior‑leadership‑level presentations on cost performance, investments, and financial risks.
Conduct productivity and efficiency analyses to identify long‑term structural cost improvements.
Present complex financial analyses with compelling executive storytelling to influence strategic decisions.
Requirements
bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field.
5–7+ years of experience in product cost management, fp&a, manufacturing finance, or engineering finance.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, manufacturing processes, and supply chain dynamics.
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and manage complex projects.
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data visualization tools.
Strong proficiency to communicate in english.
Nice to have
mba or advanced degree.
Experience in new product introduction environments.
Demonstrated ability to create executive‑level financial narratives.
