Position description
the strategic sourcing specialist is accountable for conducting and delivering sourcing events and specific sourcing strategies pertaining to key category or business initiatives.
the overall focus of the role is to complete an assigned sourcing event that identifies and qualifies suppliers relative to a targeted scope of supply and generates a detailed sourcing strategy/guide for the business to follow
when passed to them for project execution and/or production volumes. The targeted scopes are likely to be, but not limited to, events such as new supply chain development, global annual pricelists, localization/globalization
initiatives, npd/dtv activities etc.
the role holder is also required to support the assigned category team with sourcing expertise for events such as
market basket analysis, supplier benchmarking etc.
scope of responsibility
• conduct sourcing events for assigned scopes and deliver recommendations/sourcing strategy to requestor
that gives clear supplier selection and terms.
• comply with the sourcing strategy as set forth by the global category management function; including
focusing spend on partner & preferred suppliers.
• where required, and in events requiring new supplier or existing supplier capability development, coordinate
the qualification activities as needed per flowserve guidelines.
• support the category management function by conducting sourcing events that support supplier
benchmarking, market basket analysis, should cost modelling etc.
• operate in full compliance to all flowserve policies & procedures as applicable to the role.

• knowledge and experience in key tools applications i.e. Sap ariba, e-sourcing etc.
• knowledge of supply base within the category area of operation
• understanding of market dynamics
• strong analytical skills which involves collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
• certified supply chain professional
• geographically mobile for development opportunities
• ability to influence, communicate, and collaborate at all organizational levels
• strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills
