The production shift supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all manufacturing operations during the assigned shift to ensure optimal performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
this position plays a critical role in executing production plans, driving process discipline, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement aligned with lean manufacturing principles.the role involves managing and developing teams of operators and technicians, ensuring the effective use of manpower, materials, and equipment, while maintaining compliance with production schedules and company standards.
the supervisor acts as a key link between production and cross-functional areas such as quality, engineering, maintenance, and planning to guarantee operational excellence and customer satisfaction.key responsibilities- lead daily production activities, ensuring alignment with established kpis (oee, scrap, throughput, safety, attendance, etc.).
- supervise, train, and motivate personnel to achieve performance targets and promote a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a proactive safety culture within the shift.
- analyze production variances and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- support the implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects (kaizen, 5s, smed, jidoka, etc.).
- coordinate with maintenance and engineering to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- communicate shift results through structured reports and participate in daily management meetings.qualifications and skills- education: bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related technical field.
- experience:- minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing or production environment.
- at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- technical competencies:- strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and workflow optimization.
- proven experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies (tps, wcm, opex, dmaic).
- proficiency in analyzing operational data and driving data-based decisions.
- excellent communication and organizational skills, with a hands-on leadership style.
