Commercial director – mexico, latin americaoverview of the rolethe commercial director serves as the senior-most commercial leader for the assigned geographic region, accountable for driving revenue growth, margin expansion, and overall business performance.this executive-level position owns full profit and loss (p&l) responsibility and leads a dynamic regional sales organization, including regional sales managers (rsms), engineering business managers (ebm's) and inside sales managers (ism's).
this role is instrumental in translating solmax's commercial strategy into region-specific execution.the commercial director collaborates closely with product & technical services, operations, marketing, and finance to ensure customer needs are met with precision and responsiveness.they are expected to foster a high-performance sales culture, develop talent, and ensure alignment across functions to enable profitable and sustainable growth.your main responsibilities- strategic & financial leadership- define and implement the regional commercial strategy in alignment with solmax's broader sales objectives.
- own and manage the full p&l for the territory, including revenue, gross margin, and contribution to ebitda.
- drive region-level planning, market development, and resource prioritization to deliver growth and operational efficiency.
- track and analyze business performance metrics, proactively addressing gaps and capitalizing on opportunities.
- sales & team leadership- lead, coach, and develop a high-performing regional sales team, including direct oversight of rsms and ism's.
- ensure sales team executes effectively against account plans, pipeline targets, and channel strategies.
- support ebm leaders in maintaining technical selling excellence and providing engineering-driven value to customers.
- promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous development throughout the sales organization.
- product & technical services collaboration- partner with the product & technical services team to align technical support, and product development initiatives with market needs.
- provide market feedback and customer insights to inform innovation, trial priorities, and product roadmaps.
- ensure strong coordination between the commercial and technical sides of the business to support engineered solutions and project execution.
- cross-functional integration- collaborate with marketing, operations, and finance to support go-to-market campaigns, supply continuity, and commercial forecasting.
- represent the region's commercial perspective in executive planning forums, contributing to company-wide strategic decisions.
- ensure strong internal communication and process alignment to support customer satisfaction and execution efficiency.
- customer & market engagement- build executive-level relationships with key customers, influencers, and stakeholders across the territory.
- represent solmax at industry events, trade shows, and partner meetings to elevate brand visibility and leadership position.
- champion a customer-first culture focused on reliability, value creation, and long-term partnerships.qualifications and skills- bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
- must speak spanish and english fluently- must live within the country of mexico or a south american country.
- experience in geosynthetics highly preferred- 10+ years of progressive sales or commercial leadership experience, ideally within industrial, construction, or technical product environments.
- proven track record of managing regional p&l with successful outcomes in revenue and margin growth.
- experience leading multi-tiered sales organizations and technical sales professionals.
- strong financial and strategic acumen, with a bias toward execution and results.
- excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
