our client is an aerospace global leader with top market share who seeks a supply chain director to improve supply chain performance for its tijuana, mexico manufacturing operation.

*the job*

job summary

the supply chain director, administers and manages the activities of the materials department, as well as ensure that they operate and produce the quantity and quality of work, in addition to collaborating in engineering processes and providing support in production goals. The supply chain director supervises the warehouse manager, shipping manager, s&op coordinator, purchasing manager, planning manager, logistic manager and sourcing manager. The position reports directly to the vp of operations and general director, tijuana and dotted line to vp of supply chain.

Essential job responsibilities
- control and manage the raw material (purchased parts, equipment and tools) using quality and time standards at the lowest cost for customer requirements and the process to be carried out.
- maintain and improve policies and procedures in the area, complying with the internal requirements of the company to ensure that the activities are carried out in the best way.
- manage inventory control of the materials department creating analysis of delivery systems and receipts to forecast the availability of materials to generate, analyze and provide reports of standard manufacturing material.
- lead continuous improvement projects by participating in the development of equipment, product and material substitute specifications to obtain dual material supply options.
- manage the department budget making reports according to costs and market conditions to achieve in the financial goals of the materials area.
- analyze material kpi’s reports through specific reports of each material kpi’s to identify any deviations and take action.
- develop and train materials personnel identifying and promoting potential talent for succession and business continuity processes.
- perform the other functions inherent to the position according to the needs of the company to meet the established goals of the organization.
- comply with safety, hygiene and environment programs and policies, with a preventive and training approach that prevents occupational accidents and diseases, improves working conditions, and reduces environmental impacts.
- formally supervises personnel who do not perform routine tasks. It is responsible for training and developing personnel under its responsibility. Authorizes expenses with some limits.

*the candidate*

*educational requirements*:

- bachelor’s degree in administration or in a related discipline.
- master’s degree (desirable).

*work experience*:

- 6 years’ experience in supply chain management. To occupy the position, it is necessary to have gone thru a minimum of 4 previous positions, for a minimum of six years.
- strong supplier management (spm) and supplier quality assurance (sqa), procurement (mrp execution), purchasing (highly prefer negotiation with suppliers).
- experience managing 300+ suppliers.
- supply chain experience in the aerospace sector is required.

*knowledge*:

- knowledge in lean manufacturing.
- management of erp and mrp systems.
- able to handle high mix and low volume manufacturing.

*languages*:
fluent in english and spanish, including translation from spanish to english, is required to write reports in english, and to explain complex situations in both languages.

the position not only handles confidential information, but also generates it, preparing reports or using it in its calculations. It has limited authority to communicate it inside and outside the company.
