Role and TeamThe Wheel End Global Manufacturing Development team leads innovation in manufacturing processes and equipment, scouts emerging technologies, and implements new solutions across our global operations.
Using simulation, Six Sigma practices, and a commitment to sustainability, the team creates solutions designed for future challenges while enhancing our technological capabilities.
We are looking for passionate, innovation-driven engineers to develop high-performance, cutting-edge manufacturing processes for the automotive industry.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, validate, and continuously innovate manufacturing processes and equipment with a focus on cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability, aligning with the evolving needs of plants and customers.Support production plants in addressing new challenges while promoting knowledge sharing and best practices across the global automotive networkCollaborate with machinery suppliers to define technical requirements and co-develop manufacturing solutions and new process capabilitiesPerform process simulations and apply Six Sigma methodologies to analyze existing processes and validate new solutionsScout and explore emerging technologies, analyze market trends and innovations in manufacturing processes, with attention to intellectual property opportunities and complianceMain RequirementsMaster's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or Mechatronics)Proficient in English both spoken and writtenFamiliarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologiesSolid understanding of material properties, heat treatments and their applications in manufacturingProficiency in data analysis and statistical process control, applied to improving manufacturing efficiency and product qualityWillingness and ability to interact effectively with production plants and suppliers, including travel when requiredWill be considered meritoriousDirect experience in automotive manufacturing, particularly in bearing productionHands-on experience with process simulation tools and digital twin technologies for manufacturing applicationsKnowledge of coating materials and surface deposition techniquesFamiliarity with advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing (3D printing) and CNC machiningProficiency in Matlab or Python programming; experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)Proven experience in developing and deploying AI and machine learning solutions for visual inspection, process optimization, and automation systems, including robotics integrationWhat You'll EnjoyAn innovative mindset with curiosity for exploring new solutions and improving existing practicesStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesEffective communication and teamwork skills, including experience working remotely with distributed teamsCommitted attitude and self-motivation, able to manage tasks and priorities efficientlyExperience coordinating technically complex projects and engaging multiple internal and external stakeholdersSome Additional InformationPreferred location is the Automotive site in Airasca (Turin, Italy); other Automotive Global Wheel End sites may be considered (Tudela, Spain; Luechow, Germany; Puebla, Mexico; Cajamar, Brazil; Shanghai, China) on local contractYou will report to the Automotive Wheel End Manufacturing Development Manager, located in Airasca (Italy).
