The Agronomy Manager of the Nursery will support delivering high-quality plant materials, ensuring alignment with nursery planning departments. Key responsibilities include developing and executing strategic plans for fertilizers, agrochemicals, and pest management, optimizing resources to achieve production targets, and promoting sustainable practices like the adoption of beneficial microorganisms and insects. The manager will ensure compliance with quality specifications, foster team development, and uphold company values while monitoring operational progress and presenting results related to production efficiency, plant health, and cost management.
**Responsibilities**:
**Annual Planning and Resource Management**
- Conduct annual planning for fertilizers and agrochemicals based on the seasonality of the crops under management.
- Close production cycles with mínimal inventory to avoid having expired products.
**Execution of Cultivation Strategies**
- Develop strategies for plant production with robust root development and health according to quality specifications, ensuring timely execution while optimizing resources and maximizing the use of facilities for each operation under management.
**Operational Monitoring and Follow-Up**
- Visit each operation at least once a week to ensure adherence to plant production strategies.
- Present reports on conversion rates, mortality, pest and disease incidence in crops under management, as well as costs associated with agrochemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
- Report environmental conditions within operations and related to the phenological growth of plants
**Adoption of Innovative Practices**
- Adopt microorganisms and beneficial insects to enhance plant development and control diseases that negatively impact plant health.
- Design and execution of the integrated management plan for pests and diseases for each crop and farm.
**Quality Standards Compliance**
- Ensure compliance with Plant Health standards and genetic fidelity in the crops under management
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Horticulture, Physiology, Biology or any science related area
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position in plant sciences or production.
- Understanding of experimental designs, procedures, and techniques.
- Test new and improved laboratory methods and procedures
- Responsible for monthly production plant updates
- Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to pay close attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Advanced English
