about the role
risks governance & assurance manager is responsible for establishing and executing a comprehensive risk governance framework for the program, ensuring alignment with the program's risk paper and compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations. This role drives end‐to‐end oversight of risk mitigation activities, ensuring that mitigation actions are clearly defined, properly evidenced, and completed in line with key delivery and migration milestones. The manager acts as a central coordination point across technology, operations, security, compliance, legal, and operational risk partners to ensure robust governance and timely signoffs.
key responsibilities
* risk governance & framework alignment
o lead alignment with the program's risk paper, ensuring risks, controls, mitigation plans, and sign off requirements are accurately reflected and up to date.
o establish governance routines to monitor risk posture, assess mitigation progress, and escalate gaps or delays proactively.
o maintain a consolidated view of risk items and drive closure in partnership with functional leads.
* mitigation tracking & evidence validation
o drive, track, and validate evidence of risk mitigation actions and supporting artifacts required for formal signoff.
o ensure all mitigation items are completed and evidenced according to key migration milestones, including:
o system integration testing (sit)
o user acceptance testing (uat)
o disaster recovery (dr)
o go-live
* oversee assurance activities related to security and control domains such as access control, mfa/sso enablement, logging and monitoring, and data-in-transit/at-rest protections.
* validate that evidence meets policy, audit, and control expectations before escalation for signoff.
* cross-functional assurance coordination
o integrate lis pre-da reviews into the program's risk governance plan, ensuring early feedback and remediation.
o coordinate bcm bis initiation, ensuring business impact assessments and continuity requirements are addressed.
o trigger and oversee operational risk, compliance, and legal reviews based on policy triggers, materiality considerations, or delivery milestones.
o serve as the central point of contact for assurance stakeholders, ensuring clear documentation, timely follow-up, and closure of issues.
* governance reporting & documentation
o prepare risk dashboards, governance packs, and migration readiness assessments for senior leadership and steering committees.
o maintain clear and audit-ready documentation of governance decisions, risk signoffs, evidence logs, and mitigation status.
o communicate risk themes, emerging issues, and dependencies proactively to program leadership.
* continuous improvement & control strengthening
o identify common control gaps, recurring issues, or process inefficiencies and recommend improvement actions.
o contribute to the development of enhanced risk frameworks, standards, and templates to support future programs.
o promote a culture of strong risk awareness and control discipline across delivery teams.
