Position overview
we are seeking a business-savvy sap ewm functional consultant who blends strong hands-on sap ewm expertise with deep operational knowledge of warehouse logistics, inventory control, and manufacturing environments.
This role goes beyond configuration: we need someone who understands why warehouses run the way they do—slotting logic, material flow, throughput design, packaging hierarchy, space utilization, and operational constraints—and can translate that real-world understanding into practical, scalable ewm solutions.
This consultant will support multiple d4m clients across north america, especially in the automotive and industrial manufacturing sectors.
Key responsibilities
business & operational leadershipanalyze warehouse layouts, material flow, consumption patterns, and operational constraints to design optimized ewm processes.lead workshops with warehouse managers, production planners, and logistics teams to validate processes, identify gaps, and define best practices.translate business requirements into functional designs that improve productivity, accuracy, and traceability.advise clients on slotting, storage types, replenishment strategies, staging, cross-docking, and exception handling from an operational viewpoint.provide thought leadership on warehouse optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Sap ewm functional expertiseconfigure and support sap ewm (embedded or decentralized) including inbound/outbound, picking, packing, hu management, rf flows, and physical inventory.design and test warehouse orders, queues, labor management processes, and mfs integrations (if applicable).collaborate with mm, sd, pp, and it teams to support cross-functional integrations.support cutover, go-live, hypercare, and ongoing enhancements across multiple client sites.document functional specs, bpmls, user procedures, and training materials.
Client engagement & advisoryserve as a trusted advisor to client warehouse and supply chain leaders.present recommendations and alternatives with sound business rationale.train end-users, supervisors, and leadership teams on new processes and sap tools.support multiple clients in parallel while maintaining high responsiveness and professionalism.
Qualifications7+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing.4+ years hands-on sap ewm configuration experience (embedded or decentralized).strong understanding of warehouse operations beyond sap screens.experience in automotive, aerospace, industrial, or high-velocity manufacturing preferred.strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge existing processes.excellent communication skills in english; spanish/english bilingual strongly preferred.willingness to travel across the u.s. and canada as needed (10–30%).
