job description
the mission of a planner/buyer is to build and organize an efficient finite production schedule that maximizes production efficiency while minimizing raw material and work‑in‑process inventory, change‑over costs, and satisfies customers’ required dates.
* release and manage production work orders in accordance with mrp, kanban signals, production plan goals, and related planning data.
* review production capacity requirements: monitor reports and ensure capacity is available to meet the production plan.
* release and manage raw material orders through the mrp system as necessary to meet the production schedule.
* work with customer service personnel on maintenance of promise dates to the customer and provide customer service maintaining communication through the systems set.
* manage, monitor, and update kanbans for assigned value streams.
* work with lean team on the continuous improvement process with the goal of visual planning.
* resolve inventory discrepancies related to material flow in the processes, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions.
* manage open orders and expedite requests with suppliers.
* support and take actions to manage inventory control on the materials assigned to achieve the divisional metric.
* manage pfep/finished good strategy with the planning team to ensure the lisc metric on a parts; analyze and set proper strategies.
* provide data needed for sop processes related to their commodities.
* ensure production plans are aligned to sales and inventory goals.
* lead metrics of lisc and dsi related to their commodities, keeping processes to control activities that affect this metric and driving to meet company goals.
* support in identifying potential supply risk and work with commodities manager to mitigate or avoid it.
* monitor suppliers’ performance metrics of delivery and quality; work with the division if needed to improve performance.
* support accounts payable on invoicing discrepancies from suppliers.
qualifications
* engineering or administrative bachelor’s degree.
* 2‑3 years of experience in supply chain: warehouse and inventories, shipments, procurement, production planning, and processes.
* advanced english (80%–90%).
* experience managing an mrp system.
* proficiency in microsoft office.
* knowledge of inventory control.
* knowledge of kanban.
* lean manufacturing experience.
* procurement experience.
* production control/scheduling experience.
* experience with visa processes.
* highly organized.
