Work experience
- Mechanical engineering.
- 7 years of experience in a similar position.
- Steering columns and steering system experience required.
- Advanced English.
- 5 years of experience in a similar position, engineering changes and Product engineering and Client Communication (FORD and/or GM).
- Experience in the automotive industry.
Knowledge
- GD&T.;
- Interpretation of Drawings, Customer Specifications.
- Strong knowledge of materials, heat treatments, mechanical engineering.
- Project Management, Resource Management, Schedules.
- Engineering Change Management.
- Problem Solving Tools as Fast X, Black Belt, Green Belt.
- Product knowledge Core Tools - Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (AMEF/PFMEA).
Princicipal activities
- Provide leadership in executing changes that affect customer programs including on-time delivery of drawings/specs (ECRs and CNs), DSS, and product BOMs.
- Coordinate and lead communication with Core Engineer, eCAT, Validation, Manufacturing, PC&L;, GSM to complete deliverables that affect customer programs and/or production.
- Being able to make decisions based on associated cost and Financial parameters and assumptions related with design changes and manufacturing program.
- Proactively identify potential issues using Risk Assessment (Worst Scenario for Components) and/or DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode) to mitigate risk.
- Lead/coordinate communications (focusing on electric/electronic topics) with customers, suppliers, and Nexteer PDTs and other groups into Nexteer such as Validation team, Operations, etc.
- Drive engineering support of MAPP Reviews, PFMEAs, and Enterprise Reviews.
