on site: this position requires to work on site on a full-time basis

the role:

this position manages the security and fire protection operations for toluca manufacturing and trec&cca, ensuring the protection of personnel, facilities, assets, and proprietary information. This is an onsite role (expected to be onsite five days a week and to respond to the site during critical incidents) requires a strategic, hands‑on leader capable of managing complex industrial security environments, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and implementing robust risk‑mitigation programs, responsible for emergency response protocols, managing security contractor, address internal and external audits.

- possesses in-depth knowledge and work experience in the supervised area. Has broad knowledge of related areas and demonstrates good business acumen.

- works independently on driving team results, determines resources to complete team assignments. Receives general management guidance.

- supports implementation and compliance with gm global security policies and standards.

- creates and oversees operational plans for routine activities, which involve analyzing data and resolving issues within their area of responsibility. Utilizes judgment to develop programs, plans, and strategies that align with annual objectives.

- enhances relationships and networks with senior internal (e.g., hrlr director, plant director, workplace safety, etc.) and external partners (e.g., local law enforcement) who are not familiar with subject matter and often require persuasion. Uses data and analysis to demonstrate the value of a project, anticipating, and addressing objections and or concerns.

- encourages open discussion of development needs on their team to enable mutual support and development regardless of starting place for all team members.

- actively listens and responds to the concerns and feelings of colleagues in the immediate environments even when not explicitly stated to engage them towards a goal. Engage with subordinates and peer groups, promoting cooperation and interpreting and explaining information for each audience.

- effectively communicates and presents recommendations and results across several job areas, including site leadership.

scope and impact

- challenges and problems are of a diverse scope with multiple moving parts, where developing a plan and viewing the whole picture is a significant challenge itself. Work is done independently and is reviewed at critical points.

- lead the site’s entire security function, including physical security, personnel security, asset protection, fire protection, and emergency response.

- oversee access control systems, cctv operations, perimeter protection, and security technology upgrades.

- conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and security audits to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.

- prepare security reports, dashboards, and executive briefings for senior leadership
- owns the development and delivery of solutions, driving cross team and group efforts. Leads by example, taking responsibility for their own actions, acknowledging mistakes, and holding themselves accountable for achieving goals. Addresses and evaluates a diverse range of issues using innovative methods and proposing alternative approaches.

- serves as a mentor to more junior level employees, providing coaching and guidance on difficult issues.
- actively builds the team with the optimal mix of talent and experience. Makes intentional development and hire decisions on people. Recognizes and rewards visible development publicly and privately.

required qualifications

- minimum 8–10 years of experience in corporate, industrial, or manufacturing security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

- proven experience managing security operations in large‑scale manufacturing or industrial facilities.

- strong knowledge of risk management, incident response, physical security systems, and loss prevention.

- familiarity with iso 45001, iso 14001, c-tpat, and other relevant compliance frameworks.

- experience coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services.

- excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.

- ability to work under pressure and manage critical situations effectively.

preferred qualifications

- bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, industrial engineering, or a related field.

- master’s degree in security, risk management, or business administration.

- certifications such as cpp, psp, cfe, or equivalent.

- experience with digital security, cybersecurity awareness programs, and integrated security technologies.

- background in automotive or heavy manufacturing environments.

- proficiency in english and spanish.
