job description
responsible for ensuring compliance with mexican and u.s. customs regulations, managing import/export operations, coordinating traffic and logistics, and supporting internal customs control activities.
the role includes auditing, tariff classification, training, and special projects to improve internal controls.
key responsibilities
ensure and execute compliance of internal customs controls and perform internal mexico customs audits.
provide tariff classification for all merchandise for mexico and u.s. Customs.
support annex 31 vat new tax reform.
provide technical support to internal customs department technicians.
coordinate import, export, and traffic operations.
ensure timely and secure flow of new product lines and transfers.
participate in internal customs yearly forecast and financial analysis.
provide customer support to clients related to department operations.
maintain proper record keeping and archiving of customs documents.
provide training to customers and associates.
review implementations and follow up on internal customs department procedures.
coordinate and execute special projects.
process import/export documents in compliance with mexican and u.s. Customs requirements.
coordinate local traffic.
prepare customs reports as required.
file all customs-related documents.
adhere to internal customs department procedures.
promote activities to improve internal controls and international operation requirements.
follow all company safety policies and environmental management system responsibilities.
communicate business‐related issues or opportunities to management.
ensure subordinates follow health, safety, and environmental practices.
maintain compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
perform other duties as assigned.
qualifications / requirements
minimum of a high school diploma.
customs technical education or equivalent (preferred).
lean certification (preferred).
in‐house customs broker license (preferred).
2–4 years of experience or equivalent knowledge and skills.
college near completion or recently completed in trades, customs administration, law, economics, business administration, accounting, or commercial relations.
fluency in english and spanish.
knowledge of gmp/iso.
knowledge of customs practices in a manufacturing environment and immex.
working knowledge to formulate and process pediments.
