Job summary
we are seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented assistant controller (finance) to support and oversee all financial planning and analysis, cost control, and reporting activities. The assistant controller will play a key role in managing the company's budgeting and forecasting processes, maintaining cost accounting systems, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, business acumen, and a proactive mindset to partner with operations and other departments.
key responsibilities
* lead the annual budget, monthly forecast, and long-range planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational goals.
* supervise cost control activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, and performance monitoring.
* analyze financial results and provide actionable insights to management to support decision-making.
* oversee the preparation and review of monthly management reports, including p&l, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis.
* monitor operational kpis and partner with department managers to drive efficiency and improve cost structures.
* ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting standards (ifrs/us gaap as applicable).
* support the month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.
* participate in the development and implementation of financial systems and process improvements.
* assist with audits (internal/external) and regulatory reporting requirements.
* provide leadership and mentorship to junior finance staff and contribute to building a high-performing finance team.
qualifications
* bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
* 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or controlling roles.
* strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, and cost accounting principles.
* proficiency in financial systems and advanced excel skills; erp experience preferred (e.g., sap, oracle, or similar).
* ability to analyze large datasets and translate data into business insights.
* excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
