Major duties and responsibilities
1. Injury and illness employee care
assesses and evaluates employee illness and injury, providing direct care and / or referring to community healthcare provider.
Provides direct care of illness / injury and contributes to clinical protocol development and revision.
Supports first aid team in medical emergencies and trains them on first aid protocols
2. Work capacity and return to work
communicates appropriate work-related illness and injury information to the ehs professional for incident log maintenance and incident investigation, and notifies appropriate parties or government agencies of the incident when required.
Maintains employee medical files and preserves confidentiality.
Assists in preparing data for management summaries.
Monitors ill / injured employees for return to work and communicates with appropriate parties while preserving medical confidentiality.
Reviews restrictions for potential accommodations, assists supervisors and h.r. with medical issues, and works with community healthcare providers or government health systems to facilitate return to work by understanding job requirements.
3. Occupational health protection programs
plans and implements required or recommended medical surveillance programs according to protocols with employee follow-up.
Provides input into protocol development and / or revision.
Performs or facilitates access to required or recommended medical surveillance testing according to protocols and ensures appropriate follow-up of results.
Some responsibility for revenues, expenses, or assets.
Direct role to monitor or reduce lost time, equipment maintenance, cost reduction.
Responsibility to justify expenditures for proposed programs.
4. Employee health enhancement and well-being
provides health education and wellness materials and information, both one-on-one and to groups.
Understands local prevalent illnesses and participates with company occ med physician manager on design of health promotion programs to enhance employee well-being.
Delivers health promotion programs to site / plant population, including appropriate immunizations, preventive screenings if indicated, or coordination of government required preventive examinations.
Supports safety function by delivering appropriate training on potential health-related exposure effects or medical topics.
Collaborates with employee assistance professional, if available, for referrals and to identify mental health / substance abuse education needs as allowed by government regulations, and refers appropriately to local healthcare providers.
Qualifications
medical doctor with active credentials to practice medicine in the state / country of the solventum location.
In-depth knowledge of the national (federal) and local regulations applicable to occupational health.
Familiarity with specialized reference and regulatory entities in the united states : osha, cdc, niosh, acgih.
Fluent and clear verbal communication.
Professional written communication.
Spoken and written english.
Knowledge in using and maintaining medical equipment for clinical testing or screening as approved by corporate occupational medicine.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
Basic computer skills are required.
Current clinical skills are required including cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
If available, certification in occupational health is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with local, state, and country regulatory and legislative requirements are needed, as is knowledge of solventum values and policies.
