Job description
we are seeking an experienced professional to join our surveillance team in the role of surveillance analyst. The key area of focus will be the implementation of the conduct surveillance and analytics strategy across business lines to identify market abuse and misconduct of staff and counterparties.
the analyst is responsible for reviewing alerts and trading activity, encompassing trade surveillance, e-communication surveillance, and audio surveillance. They also develop and analyze new surveillance processes.
the role holder will provide subject matter expert input to this process, challenging the design, testing metrics, and ensuring the end product meets the requirements of the surveillance team.
main activities:
* identify potential new forms of staff or counterparty misconduct or market abuse.
* determine whether these could be identified through the current systems, processes, people, and data sets surveilled.
* input into and track the development of new surveillance capabilities.
* deal with alerts once they have already been passed through a first filter by the offshore team.
* ensure all alerts are satisfactorily escalated and resolved.
* provide support and guidance for our expanding offshoring function.
* carry out investigations requested by regulators, senior management, and the businesses/asset classes into certain practices, businesses, individuals, and events.
* escalate, as appropriate, any material findings or incidents of misconduct highlighted by these investigations.
required skills and qualifications:
strong knowledge of financial markets and traded products.
a strong understanding of rules relevant to trading and sales activities for equities, options, money market foreign exchange, and fixed income.
proficiency in english, both written and verbal, is essential for effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
strong analytical skills.
well-developed communications, organizational, and project management skills.
ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
experience in a surveillance role is a plus.
consideration will also be given to those with compliance advisory, unauthorized trading, front-office, or those without direct experience but aligned with other requirements.
