this role in summary
we are currently seeking qualified candidates for a planner position within our esteemed design organization. The design planner will be responsible for supporting the design organization's activities aimed at developing the customer experience for the next generation of home appliances. This role requires integrating design's efforts into cross‐functional teams and collaborating within the organization to ensure design is accountable for delivering the aesthetic and product experience direction across all aspects of multiple projects. This includes rigorous management of scope, schedule, cost, and quality to ensure successful project delivery.
your responsibilities will include
institute robust project governance to ensure the delivery of sustainable product leadership.
improve the governance and enforce adherence to the portfolio & project management system across the design function.
lead and coordinate cross‐functional teams in project activities through structured weekly core team meetings, one‐on‐one consultations, and formal communication channels.
ensure complete and accurate synchronization between the planning file and the planning & portfolio management system (planisware).
serve as the subject matter expert (sme) on planning tools.
enhance and sustain the functionality of planning and project management tools and processes.
provide support to design category managers and strategists in the creation and maintenance of project and resource plans.
integrate the voice of design throughout the entire project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closure.
collaborate with project sponsors and key stakeholders to achieve scope alignment and manage changes effectively.
collaborate with and offer expert consultation and services to cross‐functional teams, technical partners, and internal and external analytics resources.
facilitate the development and upkeep of roadmaps, ensuring explicit linkage with process partners.
provide continuous, detailed updates on project status and key insights (including resource allocation and budgetary adherence) to sponsors and relevant stakeholders, offering clear recommendations for issue resolution and risk mitigation.
cultivate strong professional relationships and develop a comprehensive understanding of enterprise strategies and objectives.
engage project sponsors and key stakeholders for comprehensive alignment on scope, resource management, time and scheduling management, and change management.
develop and present professional reports, utilizing tools such as excel and tableau, for formal presentations.
identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements based on established industry standards.
furnish continuous project status updates and detailed insights (pertaining to resources and budget) to sponsors and other critical stakeholders, including recommendations for issue resolution and risk mitigation.
ensure strict adherence to process compliance and conduct comprehensive training or workshops to support team observance of process protocols.
execute other necessary tasks to support the development and implementation of project management in alignment with the wpd system, including associated processes and tools.
oversee and ensure that company assets are deployed in accordance with policy and project deliverables.
support the annual whirlpool planning process preparation through the management of all critical planning files and tools.
manage communication to ensure design staff maintain comprehensive visibility into key metrics and the management system.
qualifications
bachelor's degree (preferably in but not limited to engineering, finance or business)
7+ years of experience in a product development role
3+ years of experience as a project manager
experience leading and driving projects; risk management, cost delivery, financial planning, and analysis experience
experience with product development process and planning
preferred skills and experiences
masters degree in engineering or mba
demonstrated expertise in project management, ideally evidenced by project management institute (pmi) certification and practical application.
extensive experience in leading and driving complex projects, encompassing risk management, cost delivery, financial planning, and rigorous analysis.
proficiency in process/lean process methodologies, with a concentrated focus on institutionalizing continuous improvement within the planning framework.
the capacity to operate as a strategic thinker, possessing robust analytical acumen, capable of synthesizing disparate data sources into a clear, insightful, and cohesive narrative.
proven capability to adapt and effectively re‐prioritize initiatives within a highly dynamic and rapidly evolving operational landscape.
exceptional communication and presentation proficiencies are paramount for effective engagement across all organizational tiers, including finance, procurement, human resources, and engineering, and for successfully influencing organizational transformation.
prior experience as a project manager within an industrial design department.
experience gained within a multinational corporation is preferred.
