Job title: senior hook up engineer
the successful candidate will lead the discipline and support the hook-up lead & manager in delivering a successful project during the hook-up phase. They will solve complex problems using discipline-specific knowledge to improve products or services.
* prepare and review job cards, including pre-requisites and sequential installations.
* develop the work breakdown structure (wbs) for discipline scope.
* review construction work packs for respective discipline and ensure compliance with project requirements.
* prepare the hook-up schedule for discipline-specific activities with efficient sequencing and synchronization with other disciplines.
* participate in pre-engineering surveys, pre-construction surveys, and post-installation surveys.
* develop the constructability log and monitor the closing of actions on a weekly basis.
* review design material transfer orders (mto's) for discipline.
* verify mto for offshore contingencies.
* review material requisitions in compliance with project specifications prior to ordering and coordinate deliveries on site.
* review hook-up progress registers and confirm understanding on progressing methodology, ensuring progress is in line with hook-up job cards for respective discipline.
* liaise with warehouse teams to ensure project material receiving status and inspection clearance from quality.
* liaise with fabrication teams and take handover of fabricated project materials and other ship lose materials.
* liaise with hook-up material teams and verify material bags/tags as per project requirements and job cards.
* develop and implement detailed hook-up plans and strategies for onshore and offshore projects.
* provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
* collaborate with project management and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of necessary resources, materials, and equipment.
* conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to ensure safety during hook-up operations.
* ensure compliance with project requirements, industry codes, and standards, including integration of environmental and sustainability aspects.
* ensure daily progress monitoring and reporting to planners.
* liaise with commissioning teams and understand system priorities, ensuring construction is planned accordingly.
* support commissioning teams to expedite vendor-related activities.
* ensure scope familiarization with hook-up superintendents and offshore construction crews prior to offshore mobilization.
* travel to offshore sites and onshore yards for coordination and resolution of disciplinary interfaces.
* participate in toolbox talks (tbt), ensure permit-to-work (ptw) requirements are fulfilled before commencing site activities and comply with policies.
essential qualifications:
* bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably mechanical, electrical, or chemical) or equivalent industry experience.
* 10+ years' experience in related offshore engineering fields.
* strong knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to hook-up activities.
* proficiency in utilizing project management tools and software for planning, scheduling, and tracking hook-up and commissioning activities.
* excellent communication and leadership skills for effective liaison with interdisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients.
* demonstrated ability to resolve technical challenges, implement innovative solutions, and ensure continuous improvement.
* proactive mindset with a strong focus on safety, quality, and delivering projects within defined timelines and budget constraints.
* competent in analyzing technical documents, drawings, and specifications to identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions.
* strong decision-making abilities under pressure, prioritizing tasks and allocating resources efficiently.
* professional certifications (pmi or equivalent) or training in project management would be advantageous.
