the role
the here analytics foundation (af) team seeks a software engineer to build and scale our analytics infrastructure and maintain our ecosystem of applications that facilitate self-serve analytics. The role involves all parts of the software development lifecycle: refining product vision, gathering requirements, designing systems, coding, testing, releasing, and supporting. As our team is globally distributed, collaboration across different locations is essential.
your daily activities may include:
1. tackling large-scale data extraction, transformation, and enrichment challenges.
2. implementing tools to enhance automated and semi-automated map data processing, involving backend/service-based software and front-end visualization for big data analysis.
3. applying and extending ci/cd tools and owning your software end-to-end, including devops and testing.
4. collaborating with full-stack and frontend engineers to refine apis and system integrations.
5. working with other engineering teams and internal customers to identify opportunities, address needs, and solve complex problems with backend development expertise.
6. leveraging internal platform resources and apis effectively.
7. working within the aws cloud environment.
who are you?
* at least 2 years of professional software development experience, proficient in java 1.8+, python, or any functional programming language.
* experience with cloud services, particularly aws.
* experience with data transformation processes or etl systems is preferred.
* proficiency with relational databases, understanding sql query plans and optimization; exposure to nosql databases is a plus.
* experience working with soap/rest web services.
* familiarity with agile development processes.
* knowledge of ci/cd tools like jenkins, git, gerrit.
* a commitment to writing high-quality, resilient code with good unit tests.
* flexibility to work across time zones in a global team.
* strong teamwork skills and collaborative spirit.
* excellent communication skills in english.
