*interim controller - contract role*
*location*: mexicali, baja california, mexico (onsite)
we are seeking an experienced *interim controller* to support finance and accounting operations during a transition period while a permanent controller is identified. This role will focus on maintaining operational continuity, strengthening accounting processes, and supporting key financial reporting and audit activities.
key responsibilities
- support day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activities
- assist with the monthly close process, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting preparation
- support audit activities by preparing documentation and coordinating with external auditors
- review accounting processes and provide recommendations to improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls
- assist with inventory and cost accounting activities, including review of costing data and operational alignment
- help develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (sops) and workflows
- monitor tax and regulatory compliance deadlines and documentation requirements
- identify risks or process gaps and communicate findings to leadership
- provide guidance and support to the finance and accounting team as needed
- support transition activities for the incoming full-time controller, including documentation and knowledge transfer
*qualifications*:
- bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- experience supporting month-end close and audit processes
- experience with erp systems (sap, oracle, netsuite, dynamics, or similar)
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- ability to work onsite in mexicali, mexico
- bilingual english/spanish preferred
