Position summary
work mode: onsite.location: juarez, nuevo león, mexico.
The position has overall responsibility for all financial matters related to the sanimex vitreous operations in mexico, a large‑scale, complex, multi‑plant manufacturing organization consisting of approximately 2,875 employees. This role serves as the principal financial advisor to the director of operations - sanimex and all key members of plant and operations leadership, executing responsibilities in full alignment with kohler co. policies, procedures, governance standards, and matrixed organizational structure. The role requires the highest level of integrity, transparency, and candor in all interactions with plant management, leadership, and kohler co. The overarching goal is to ensure the delivery of meaningful, timely, and decision‑ready financial information that is used to run the business and continuously improve operational and financial performance across the vitreous business segment. The role is responsible for building and leading a high‑performing finance team that supports sanimex’s three‑plant operating structure, ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting, actionable insights, disciplined costing, and effective planning and decision‑making across manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
financial leadership & business advisory: act as the primary financial advisor to the director of sanimex operations and plant leadership, providing clear, straightforward interpretation of financial results and business drivers. Analyze and quantify business activities, investments, and operational decisions, translating complexity into actionable insights. Provide proactive recommendations to improve financial and operational performance, cost structure, and profitability.
Planning, budgeting & forecasting: lead and coordinate the annual budgeting, standard cost maintenance, and capital planning processes for the sanimex vitreous business. Own the monthly financial projection (forecast) submission, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with operational realities. Serve as a key contributor to strategic planning and long‑range business planning processes.
Financial reporting & analysis: maintain responsibility for financial information reporting, including coordination of the monthly accounting close, in accordance with kohler reporting formats, design attributes, and timelines. Ensure financial information is made available to plant and kohler co. management on a timely, consistent, and comparable basis. Monitor, analyze, and report monthly variances related to spending, production, inventories, absorption, and performance measures as required by operations finance. Analyze and report financial and operational performance versus standards, providing clear explanations of root causes and corrective actions.
Accounting, controls & compliance: ensure all financial records are maintained in accordance with u.s. Gaap, mexican statutory, tax, legal, and kohler co. requirements, consistently applied from period to period. Own a timely and documented balance sheet reconciliation process. Maintain and continuously enhance the internal control system for the business. Leverage feedback from internal and external auditors to identify, address, and remediate control weaknesses. Cooperate fully with internal audit.
Costing & profitability: enforce and continuously improve product costing methodologies. Provide leadership in understanding manufacturing cost drivers and financial trade‑offs in operational decisions.
Inventory & asset management: work closely with materials and supply chain associates to ensure inventory control objectives and turn‑rate targets are met. Monitor inventory control procedures, including physical inventories and cycle counting. Maintain a perpetual inventory process for fixed assets, ensuring accurate capitalization, tracking, and depreciation.
People leadership & development: lead, develop, and supervise finance staff. Provide knowledge transfer, coaching, constructive feedback, and candid performance appraisal. Address performance or compatibility issues in a timely and professional manner. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the finance organization.
Ethics & integrity: maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times, and model and promote the same level across the finance team and broader plant functions.

education & experience requirements
bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Minimum 5+ years of experience, preferably within a mexican maquiladora manufacturing environment.
Strong experience in manufacturing accounting and operational analysis.
Supervisory experience required.
Strong systems aptitude; sap financial reporting experience preferred.
Bilingual (english / spanish) required.
