Carry out desk and market research (competition, segment, market analysis) and attend classroom observations where possible. Understand the publishing vision in the context of the publishing plan and macmillan education’s business needs.content/manuscript development: understand and contribute to the investment approval (ia) process and support the commissioning editor in concept development, sample materials, market research/feedback. Prepare author briefs in light of market research. Identify potential authors, contributors and external content creators. Understand contract terms and budget for external contributors. Develop material that follows the brief and supports different output formats. Oversee external content creators and ensure content meets required standards. Provide feedback to authors/contributors with support as needed. Alert the project team to content development issues to ensure on-time delivery and within budget. Understand budgeting and financial implications of changes. Attend audio recordings, video/photo shoots and related meetings to ensure outputs meet the brief/project specification. Create artwork, design and digital specification briefs, style sheets, page plans and asset briefs. Manage rights clearance processes.personal development: stay up to date on elt/efl issues, participate in training and development opportunities.key relationships: report to senior development editor; collaborate with content development manager, commissioning editor, senior development editor, managing editor and other internal departments (operations, production, sales and marketing).
