this crucial role involves close collaboration with product development, the cost estimating team, and suppliers to understand the market landscape, emerging technologies, and trends, in order to establish and achieve annual cost savings goals.
the incumbent will be the lead in sourcing execution, from rfi events to contract administration, and will own the point of view (pov) on program-specific sourcing decisions.
they will also be responsible for developing new and managing existing supplier relationships, as well as implementing a commodity strategy that balances ford's capacity, cost, timing, and esg (environmental, social, governance) needs.responsibilitiesmanage quality, cost, delivery, and resilience of ducts & air registers over program lifetime.understand and set cost savings goals annually to identify pure commercial leverage versus design efficiencies and end-to-end supply chain improvements.work with product development to understand latest supply base footprint, financial health ratings, technologies, and trends.analyze market supply/demand balances and deficit risks.align on sourcing component and part requirements.work with cost estimating to understand cost drivers and gap analysis.conduct regular design reviews with engineering.sourcing execution lead (rfi events, tactical sourcing, spot buy, contract admin, etc.).
