The regulatory compliance specialist ensures product regulatory compliance across the americas—primarily in the u.s., canada, and brazil—while supporting customers in meeting chemical regulations applicable to coatings. This role manages substance notifications, regulatory reporting, and assesses the impact of new regulations. It also leads compliance-related projects, collaborates with global teams, and supports the development of hazard communication materials in line with regulatory standards.
responsibilities:
* respond to internal and external inquiries on global regulatory compliance, health and safety, and local requirements for our products.
* participate in the regulatory hold process and ensure compliance with chemical control regulations, including permit applications.
* conduct regulatory assessments (e.g., tsca, dsl) to support marketing and business decisions.
* manage reporting and record-keeping for chemical substances and maintain up-to-date regulatory databases.
* advise business units and r&d on compliance requirements and support new product development.
* track emerging regulations such as brazil reach, inform management, and implement new compliance processes.
* conduct training sessions to promote regulatory compliance awareness across business groups.
* represent the company in trade associations and participate in global projects for process improvement.
requirements:
* minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in chemical regulatory compliance.
* proven track record working with chemical control laws and regulations in the us, canada, and brazil.
* experience supporting regulatory processes in a global manufacturing or chemical environment.
* familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as tsca, dsl, and other international chemical inventories.
* experience with regulatory databases, reporting systems, and compliance documentation.
* excellent verbal and written communication skills in english.
* proficiency in portuguese and spanish is highly desirable.
* strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
* understanding of business priorities, product strategy, and regulatory impact on commercial decisions.
qualifications:
* bachelor’s degree in chemistry or polymer chemistry preferred.
* degrees in biological or environmental sciences or related fields will be considered with relevant experience.
* advanced degrees in a relevant specialization are a plus.
