What you’ll do:
the molding process engineer is responsible for the development, validation and innovation of new ideas, products, processes, materials and all the specific tools necessary for the molding industry in general, at an advanced engineering level. Defines and implements the functions of troubleshooting, assembly, modification, design and replacement of molds, dies and tooling; ensuring compliance with product and process specifications, maximizing efficiency in the use of resources and favorably impacting operating indicators such as: quality, service and cost.
* coordinate and participate with hpwt (high performance work teams) to achieve hive five metrics
* propose and implement actions to reduce scrap in the molding area
* define, develop and implement efficient molding processes
* improve efficiency and cycle time in molding processes
* lead value engineering, doe and rie events to improve part cost, quality, and performance
* implement and manage equipment installation, layout changes and improvements
* train and validate the activities of technical and operational personnel in the use of molding equipment
* investigate machine and mold damage, customer complaints or production defects
* validate new molds and define process parameters
* condition machines or equipment to improve production conditions
* plan the sequences of operations and specify procedures for the development of tools or equipment and other functions that affect production
* project management
* establish strategies and parameters for the use of team capabilities
* process validation for engineering changes or new products (ppap level 3, use of statistical tools such as minitab)
* knowledge of plastics and engineering resins

qualifications
specialized knowledge
* bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, plastics engineering (polymers), tool engineering, or related careers
* +5 years of experience in similar positions
* fluent in english and spanish
* experience with cost‑out projects
* proficiency with problem‑solving techniques (5 why's, 8d's, etc.)
* proficiency with statistical tools such as minitab
* project management experience
* scientific molding (master molder 1) certification
* solidworks and mold design knowledge
* knowledge of molding processes
* understanding of resins (polymers)
* experience with molds (cold runner, hot runner, valve gate, cores, etc.)
