the tech ops manager will manage the implementation and improvement of digital tools that support our core operations and ensure reliable monitoring and reporting of information. You'll play a key role in ensuring our systems drive outcomes for both customers and our internal teams.
your work will help frontline teams operate more effectively, surface the data we need to make smart decisions, and ensure our tech tools are always in service of our mission.
you'll work closely with all the internal teams, project partners, and software vendors to ensure our systems deliver real value to the communities we serve.

where you'll focus
digital transformation & systems building
* lead the digital transformation of our field operations today and build a playbook for future growth.
* design, build, and implement the initial lightweight tech stack for field data collection and customer management (e.g., tablets, form builders, flexible databases) to replace current paper-based processes.
* develop a long-term technology roadmap that starts with immediate, practical solutions and scales towards a more integrated, enterprise-grade vision.
* ensure all systems are field-ready, user-friendly, and successfully adopted by a non-technical team, requiring hands‑on training and in-field troubleshooting.
applied technology & external integrations
* leverage core platforms to deploy and manage tech-enabled tools that improve communication and interactions with customers.
* design and manage processes for tracking customer loan payments within our systems, accommodating multiple sources from cash collections to digital payments.
* oversee the integration between our operational field systems and central accounting systems, ensuring data flow for financial reconciliation and reporting.
* coordinate data exchange and system integrations with external partners, such as financial institutions.
data management & analytics
* establish a data-driven culture by developing a data strategy from the ground up, championing data governance and quality.
* pool data from disparate sources into a unified view and leverage data analytics tools to build dashboards that track key operational metrics and inform strategic decisions.
* go beyond internal data by identifying and integrating relevant external datasets (such as macroeconomic, geospatial, census data) to enrich our analysis.
* train field teams on data hygiene and system use to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all project sites.
innovation and cross-team collaboration, automation & support
* actively engage with the broader technology ecosystem, including fintech, proptech, and social impact communities, to identify emerging trends, tools, and potential partners.
* act as the main bridge between our operations, leadership, and external tech providers.
* work with across the organization to ensure the systems you build align with our strategic goals.
* set up clear troubleshooting protocols and ensure frontline teams have the tech support they need to succeed.
who you are
* 4+ years of hands‑on experience in tech/product operations or systems implementation, with a track record of building systems from scratch.
* demonstrated success at a high-growth, operations-heavy company, with experience supporting field-based or non-technical teams.
* skilled with modern, lightweight, low-code/no-code tools and bi/analytics platforms.
* proactive, curious, and mission-driven, with a comfort for ambiguity, ability to adapt to on-the-ground learnings, and willingness to be hands‑on or troubleshoot on-site.
* strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage fast-paced priorities and external relationships.
* bilingual fluency in spanish and english.
* willing to travel up to 25‑40% during initial project phases.

this role reports to the director of field operations.
location, compensation, & travel
this is a hybrid role based in mexico city, mexico. Our annual salary range for this role is mx$1,100,000.00 – mx$1,300,000.00 (gross).
benefits
health & wellness. new story covers 100% of employee-only premium costs for major medical health insurance through axa and life insurance through mapfre. 60% of premium costs for dependents are also covered. Team members receive a flex benefit card with a monthly allowance of mx$1,000 for supermarket, food, and wellness expenses.
aguinaldo. team members receive a federal mandated holiday bonus equivalent to 15 days of pay on or before december 20.
vacation premium. on the first and subsequent work anniversaries, team members are paid an annual vacation premium bonus equivalent to the number of vacation days allotted for the year at a rate of 25%. Base vacation days are 12 per year.
unlimited vacation after the 1st year. for the first 12 months, you have 12 days of pto, 14 paid holidays, and your birthday off. After year one, vacation is unlimited, paid at the regular base rate.
summer and winter breaks. the company observes two annual company-wide breaks: the first week of july and the week between december 24 and january 1.
5-week sabbatical after 5th year. at the 5‑year mark, a fully paid 5‑week sabbatical is offered.
paid parental leave. primary caregivers receive 12 weeks paid time off; secondary caregivers receive 6 weeks.
adoption reimbursement. eligible team members may receive up to mx$180,000 in adoption-related expenses.
intentional gatherings. funding is allocated for in-person gatherings such as company summits, fundraisers, and spontaneous department events.
improve through learning. investment is made in conferences, online courses, books, hackathons, tea(m) talks, and lunch-and-learns.
trips to the field. opportunities to visit work sites in mexico or el salvador. Prioritization may vary by role.
