monitor, maintain and properly report business unit financial information to management. Work with management to develop, implement, and monitor business plans that improve return on assets. Analyze and interpret accounting and operational information to improve ebitda for the business unit.
supervise plant accounting function. Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the accounting department and providing coaching and counseling to enhance performance and development of the team. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, monthly financial reports and forecasts for the transformer business unit, according to timelines established by the corporate controller. Maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), to analyze and report variances.
monitor the annual financial plan and monthly forecast for the transformer business (particularly material, labor and overhead costs) ensuring achievement of financial objectives and corrective actions for deviations. Prepare and maintain financial analysis with supporting documentation for the business unit director and other executive management as requested.
review and approve all journal entries and account reconciliations for the business to ensure accurate financial reporting. Ensure compliance with all corporate accounting procedures and statutory reporting requirements. Develop and conduct periodic audits of financial data. Assist with evaluating capital requirements for the plant. Perform financial analysis to support the business case for investment.
participate in cost savings and continuous improvement projects.
review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure that the balances are supported and accurate. Promptly report any material changes in business conditions, asset impairments or potential liabilities that are not reflected on the balance sheet.
conduct business analysis to recommend sourcing alternatives to purchasing (i.e., participate in and audit annual physical inventory verifications. Review excess and obsolete inventory reports and record adequate reserves. Analyze inventory activity to reduce excess inventory. Monitor inventory usage data for waste and excess scrap. Develop work center labor and overhead rates for the plant.
ensure accurate transfer pricing for intercompany sales and support marketing with market-level pricing analysis for the transformer business in north america.
5+ years of controlling and/or heavy cost accounting experience in a medium to large manufacturing environment
~ bilingual, english and spanish
~ previous experience working with an erp system
~ mba or cpa (or candidate thereof) would be ideal
~ business partnering with all functional areas of operations and finance.
