Position summary
vertiv seeks a manager / senior leader of manufacturing process design to act as the lead architect of production ecosystems. In this role, you will facilitate the \"virtual-to-physical\" transition of our power and thermal products, serving as the primary bridge between r&d and the shop floor. By integrating full‑line balancing with high‑fidelity discrete event simulation (des), you will mathematically optimize manufacturing lines for maximum efficiency before production begins, driving a \"right first time\" global launch strategy.
responsibilities
* lead new product introduction (npi) by integrating manufacturing constraints, plant capabilities, and automation requirements into product design early.
* drive operational excellence through yamazumi modeling, balancing processes to takt time and neutralizing bottlenecks to maximize throughput.
* develop des models from yamazumi data, capturing mtbf, mttr, and cycle times to stress‑test production environments and validate throughput targets.
* lead dfm/dfa reviews, acting as gatekeeper for manufacturability and reducing engineering change orders.
* use simulation for virtual commissioning, validating line layouts, and selecting manufacturing equipment (iq/oq/pq).
* root‑cause analyze production issues using fmea and six sigma, integrating real‑time plant data for continuous optimization.
* coordinate between global design centers and local plant operations, ensuring a seamless handoff across the full lifecycle.
* manage and mentor a team of engineers, promoting best practices in yamazumi, dfm/dfa, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
skills
* expert in discrete event simulation modeling and interpretation.
* mastery of takt time analysis, work‑content graphing, and yamazumi balancing.
* strong executive communication, presenting complex data to senior leadership.
* system integration experience with erp (sap) and mes environments.
* professional fluency in english and spanish.
education & certifications
* bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, operations research, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
* preferred master’s in industrial & systems engineering or data analytics.
* 15+ years in manufacturing process design for power products (ups, dc power systems, or similar), with leadership or project management experience.
* proven record of applying dfm/dfa and high‑fidelity simulation to reduce costs and improve reliability in high‑volume, international environments.
* expertise in cad (solidworks, autocad) and simulation tools (flexsim, arena, simio, anylogic); proficiency in power bi/tableau.
* lean manufacturing experience: yamazumi modeling, kaizen, waste elimination.
* preferred six sigma black belt, lean manufacturing certification, or professional engineering license.
