We are seeking an experienced and proactive company accountant to take full ownership of the finance function for our mexico subsidiary. This role combines local statutory compliance, group reporting, and operational finance support, working closely with both internal stakeholders and external tax & payroll advisors.
key responsibilities financial reporting & month-end close
* own the full month-end close process, ensuring accurate and complete accounts submitted to group by the 18th working day
* prepare monthly p&l, balance sheet, and supporting schedules in line with group reporting standards
* deliver clear and concise monthly commentary on performance and variances
* maintain full balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation
project accounting, wip & margins
* prepare and review project margin reports, including revenue recognition and cost allocation
* maintain accurate work in progress (wip) and ensure alignment with operational progress
* work closely with operations to validate project performance and resolve discrepancies
* support improvement of job costing, labour allocation, and revenue recognition processes
intercompany & group alignment
* perform monthly intercompany reconciliations and agreement with group entities
* ensure all balances are aligned and differences are resolved prior to close
* maintain strong working relationships with group finance (uk, cyprus) and the us office
local compliance & external advisors
* oversee and coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors for:
o sat tax filings (isr, iva, diot)
o payroll processing and statutory submissions (imss, infonavit)
o year-end statutory reporting and audit
* ensure full compliance with mexican nif, sat requirements, and statutory deadlines
* act as key contact for government authorities, auditors, and banks
digital invoicing & revenue cycle
* ensure compliance with cfdi digital invoicing requirements, including issuance, cancellations, and controls
* support or directly manage customer invoicing processes where required
* maintain integrity between invoicing, revenue recognition, and accounting records
transactional finance & controls
* oversee and/or process ap, ar, bank postings, and reconciliations
* ensure integrity of sub-ledgers and control over financial data
* support cash management and short-term cashflow forecasting
systems & process improvement
* take ownership of finance processes and support implementation of microsoft dynamics (msd)
* ensure all accounting is transitioned into msd and maintained in line with group standards
* drive improvements in controls, reporting accuracy, and efficiency
payroll coordination
* coordinate payroll inputs (e.g. timesheets, adjustments) with external advisors
* review payroll outputs for accuracy prior to payment
professional background
* degree in accounting (licenciatura en contaduría)
* 5+ years’ experience in a full-function accounting role (not purely tax or admin)
* strong knowledge of:
o mexican gaap (nif)
o sat requirements (isr, iva, diot)
o cfdi digital invoicing
* experience with:
o project accounting / wip / job costing
o full balance sheet reconciliations
o intercompany accounting
o ap / ar / sub-ledgers
* experience with microsoft dynamics (msd) preferred (or willingness to learn quickly)
* strong excel skills
language & communication
* fluent english (essential) and spanish
* confident working with international teams across uk, cyprus, and us time zones
