Role overview
ux/ui designer – product & web (full-time / contract, remote/hybrid)
we're eazeye. We build hardware that improves how people interact with screens.
we're about to launch a new product and need a designer who can make the ux and ui top tier, for our website and our tablet product. This role is hands-on. You'll move fast. You'll ship high-quality work.
if you care about product detail, user-first design, and shipping work that actually gets used, read on.
scope
you'll own ux and ui for two critical touchpoints:
* the product tablet (primary): interfaces users will hold, touch and depend on.
* the public website (secondary): product pages, landing flows, and lead capture.
you'll work directly with product, engineering, and marketing. Expect tight deadlines and real product constraints (hardware limitations, performance, and lighting behavior). We need someone who designs beautifully and pragmatically.
this role can be full-time or contract for the right candidate. Remote-first; hybrid if you're local.
hours: flexible, but availability around launch milestones is required.
what you'll do (day-to-day)
* lead ux and ui for the tablet interface: flows, information architecture, interaction patterns.
* design responsive, conversion-focused website pages and product flows.
* prototype interactions and hand off high-fidelity specs to engineering.
* run rapid user testing and iterate based on real feedback.
* build and maintain a lightweight design system and component library (figma).
* solve for hardware constraints: screen reflections, refresh, power limits, and touch ergonomics.
* produce clear design documentation and collaborate tightly with devs during implementation.
* deliver marketing assets as needed (social visuals, email templates), but that's secondary.
* track key ux metrics and improve them (task success, time-on-task, conversion).
must-haves (non negotiable)
* proven experience designing and shipping product ui/ux (show us shipped work).
* portfolio with at least 3 case studies that include: problem, process, solution, outcomes.
* strong interaction design and prototyping skills (figma required).
* experience designing for embedded displays, tablets, or hardware ui, or demonstrable work solving constrained environments.
* strong visual design: layout: typography, hierarchy, micro-interactions.
* practical user-testing experience and ability to iterate fast.
* clear communicator and collaborator. You'll explain design decisions to non-designers.
* you work fast. You refuse to sacrifice quality for speed, you do both.
nice-to-haves
* motion design and micro-interaction experience (framer, after effects).
* front-end familiarity (html/css, basic react) to improve handoff.
* experience working in consumer hardware or iot products.
* experience creating marketing assets (not required, but useful).
* experience with design and video editing software (canva, photoshop, premiere pro).
how we work / culture fit
we're small and direct. We value:
* ownership: you own outcomes, not tasks.
* pragmatism: elegant solutions that ship on schedule.
* clarity: direct communication and clean documentation.
* curiosity: show your process, learn quickly, iterate.
* resilience: deadlines move and priorities change; you adapt.
you'll present to leadership and partner with engineers and marketers. Clear verbal storytelling matters.
success metrics
we'll measure success by practical outcomes:
* 30 days: understand product constraints and deliver initial tablet flow mockups for 2 core screens.
* 60 days: ship a tested interactive prototype for the main tablet flow; improve website product page conversion metrics.
* 90 days: deliver a usable design system and hand off implemented tablet ui to engineering with qa sign-off.
what we offer
* flexible remote/hybrid setup
* direct impact on a product about to launch
* collaboration with a small leadership team (visible results)
* opportunity to grow with the company post-launch
compensation: competitive and commensurate with experience. We can discuss full-time vs contract and scope during interviews.
application process (what to expect)
* apply with a resume and a link to your portfolio. Include a one-paragraph note: why this role, and which 1 project in your portfolio best demonstrates your fit.
* if your profile fits, we'll invite you to complete a short form with focused design questions.
* shortlist: 2-3 candidates will be asked to complete a practical design assessment.
* final video interview with the leadership team.
* decision and offer.
we only interview a few people. The form and task filter ensures we spend interview time on top candidates.
