this role is part of the lan r&d team and is key in ensuring mars delivers on its sustainability agenda for sustainable packaging commitments. The role is designed to lead, coordinate and drive cluster r&d activities required to deliver the sustainable packaging kpi’s (d4c, virgin plastic reduction, pcr use and innovate projects). The job holder will also ensure that the cluster r&d team has the required tools and capabilities (including training) to fulfil its mission. The role will be the key contact point for d4c in the regional organization and will collaborate cross-functionally with all relevant regional functions and with global r&d to allow accurate planning, deployment and reporting of project activities. The job holder will play a key role in sharing and codifying regional best practices as well as implementing capabilities and best practices developed by the global team or other regions.
what are we looking for?
* minimum 5 years of experience in research and development
* extensive experience in technical functions in fmcg (or similar business) in packaging development
* track record in leadership & delivery of complex technical projects/programs
* actively builds collaborative and effective relationships with partners across the business and with external partners, vendors, etc.
* ability to effectively collaborate, influence, steer and lead senior managers and peers in r&d, supply, marketing and commercial
* excellent communication skills, written and oral
key responsibilities
* engagement, training & implementation of d4c knowledge and tools. Technical point of contact within the lan region.
* collaborate cross functionally and with primary or secondary vendors/suppliers to identify new sustainable and circular packaging solutions.
* ensure new materials / replacement opportunities are aligned with mars sustainability guardrails.
* work with packaging development and sra to develop feasible and credible product and packaging claims.
* drive and monitor cross-functionally the development and deployment of any sustainable pack activity in the cluster.
* participate in ivcp, aep and other processes with demand, ie, supply, s&f and commercial for packaging sustainability.
* report with required frequency kpi’s on sustainability activities aligning with the regional and global team for submission to the pssg.
* attend and provide technical insights for packaging sessions with external partners across the cluster and build collaborative relationships to support sustainability activities.
* track and communicate d4c progress on the regional roadmap to regional and global teams.
* active member of the global d4c community of practice, including codification and implementation of best practices in the region.
* leadership of value leadership related to packaging and plastic reduction, connecting results from programs across the cluster and ensuring targets are delivered according to lan commitments, building synergy between sustainability and efficiency.
