Senior buyer summary:
* a purchasing professional with expertise in direct material procurement, responsible for executing the action messages suggested by the system to meet customer commitments.
main responsibilities:
1. execute action messages from the bpcs system to release purchase orders, expedite, push, and cancel orders according to procedure qop-06t-002.
2. follow up on purchase orders placed with external suppliers to ensure timely delivery and meet customer commitments.
3. maintain accurate records of raw material arrivals by updating open orders in the system.
4. coordinate with planners to synchronize material flow and fulfill customer commitments.
5. analyze otto reports for new orders and shipments in detail.
6. ensure inventory levels are maintained within set goals.
7. develop strategies to efficiently perform job responsibilities.
8. negotiate with suppliers in special cases as required.
9. review and resolve invoices with discrepancies in price and quantity received.
10. follow up on rejected materials (mrbs) in coordination with the quality department.
11. attend to instructions from direct supervisors in a timely manner.
12. ensure standard operating procedures (sops) of the purchasing function are maintained.
13. c coordinate and schedule meetings with delinquent otd suppliers that risk product delivery to customers due to line stoppages.
14. attend sales and operations meetings corresponding to assigned value streams, carrying relevant material information.
15. follow up on urgent purchase orders for shipments causing line stoppages for customers, reviewing options for express delivery.
16. assist customer/supplier/volex tripartite meetings if necessary to review critical materials.
qualifications and experience:
1. bachelor's degree in engineering, purchasing, administration, supply chain management, or related field.
2. minimum 5 years' experience in direct material purchasing capacity, including commodity purchasing and project purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
3. ability to read and comprehend technical documents, facilitate technical reviews, and vave.
4. knowledge of mrp.
5. proficient in microsoft o365 with advanced analytics and negotiation skills.
6. fluent english/spanish.
